Berend Strik

At Weblyfe, we designed and built the digital home for contemporary artist Berend Strik, whose stitched photography is held in collections including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Our approach centered on exclusivity, institutional credibility, and restraint, giving serious collectors a platform worthy of the work itself.

Projectdetails

Berend Strik's work has been collected by institutions including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and the Fries Museum, and is represented internationally through Galerie Fons Welters. The brief was to give that body of work a digital home worthy of it, one built for serious collectors rather than casual browsers.

We approached the brand around five pillars: uncompromising exclusivity, tactile mastery, institutional credibility, intellectual depth, and personal co-creation. Every design decision was filtered through the question of whether it would resonate with a collector prepared to invest several thousand euros in a single, one-of-one piece.

The visual language stays out of the way of the work itself, restrained typography, generous negative space, and a slow, deliberate pace that mirrors the stitching technique Strik is known for, letting each photograph and its reworking breathe rather than compete for attention.

Beyond the initial design, we built out a Press CMS and a dedicated CV page so Strik's institutional history, exhibitions, and press coverage can be maintained and extended directly, keeping the site as current as his practice.
